Brief: I was hired to write accompanying texts to this beautiful survey of twelve gardens, public and private, by award-winning photographer Andre Baranowski. Word count for each text was approximately 350 words. The project required interviewing garden designers and owners, then writing up what amounted to a short article about the garden, the design approach and philosophy, and the personality of the designers and owners. It was a pleasure working with everyone involved and the text was accepted with hardly any revisions.

Brief: I was hired to write a 6,000-word text to accompany Grammy award-winning designer Lawrence Azerrad's elegant tribute to the world's fastest commercial jet. I had a short window of time to interview the author, research the topic, and deliver a manuscript that provided historical and design context accessible to both lay readers and design aficionados. This received a very nice write up in the New Yorker, and ended up on numerous Best Of lists, including New York magazine, Amazon, and Metropolis Magazine.

Brief: Artsy's curator at large takes us on a tour of contemporary art through ten works by ten artists spanning fifteen years. To translate the author's deep, academic knowledge into accessible writing for the lay reader required a heavy level of copyediting. The final text is very satisfying to me, kind of like how I feel after a thorough spring cleaning.
